The left side of my neck (in the back) has been painful on and off for the last 7 hours. It starts at my hairline and goes down to my shoulder blade. I had a flu shot last Saturday (3 days ago). what could it be? I am 70 years old, a female and in good health.

Hello
Welcome to Ask a Doctor Service
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Muscular spasm may be the cause, looking to your age I would not advise for any medicine but local rubefacient can be used either in gel form or in spray form, if this does not relieved the symptom then it is advisable to see the physiotherapy, the only worry part is cervical spondylitis and it need to be ruled out if the symptoms persist for long time or give partial relieve.
Hope I have answered your query, let me know for further assistance.
