What Causes Pain In The Left Side Of Chest?

I ve had an ache in the left side of my chest, which goes into my left arm, for a few months, which disappears after I drink alcohol. I think I am stressed as my wife has recently been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Is this normal when stressed and what can I do as an alternative to drinking alcohol?

Hi
Welcome to HCM.
I appreciate your concern for the left sided radiating chest pain.

Incomplete data: Age, any medical illness, cigarette smoking, aggravating and relieving factors for chest pain, etc.

Chest pain on the left side is caused by various condition, since you have a chest pain which is radiating to your left arm it may be due to heart disease.
So, the first thing you must do here is consult a doctor for proper evaluation and an ECG is highly recommended.

I am sorry to know that your wife is being diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, do not worry there are effective and successful medicines to treat her condition. Stress may also be responsible for your present problem.

You should not take alcohol as a remedy for stress all the time, as its consumption is associated with a number of harmful effects in your body including the heart.

Hope this answers your query.
