What Causes Pain In The Left Hip?

Hey Doctor, i basically have this pain in my left hip flexor region it basically started when i came home after playing basketball. I didnt feel the pain as soon as i stopped playing, when i got home i had a few cramps then the next day i woke up and had some pain. Now this happened about a week ago so i put ibuprofen cream and rested. The pain is almost gone but when i run i can feel it again so what should i do?

Hip pain may be caused by arthritis, injuries or other problems. Arthritis:

1. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (formerly known as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis)
2. Osteoarthritis (disease causing the breakdown of joints)
3. Psoriatic arthritis
4. Rheumatoid arthritis (inflammatory joint disease)
5. Septic arthritis

1. Injuries
2. Bursitis (joint inflammation)
3. Dislocation
4. Hip fracture
5. Hip labral tear
6. An inguinal hernia
7. Sprains and strains
8. Tendinitis

Pinched nerves:

1. Meralgia paresthetica
2. Sacroiliitis
3. Sciatica

Other problems:

1. Avascular necrosis (death of bone tissue due to limited blood flow)
2. Legg-Calve-Perthes disease (in children)
3. Osteomyelitis (a bone infection)
4. Osteoporosis
5. Synovitis

You need to consult an orthopedician and get a detailed evaluation
