What Causes Pain In The Hips, Knees And Hands After An Insect Bite?

About 3 weeks ago I found and successfully removed a tick on my skin. Area was red around the site, but did not develope the characteristic bullseye rash and is now only slightly red at the site. For the last few days I ve been generally achy especially my joints (hips, knees, hands, and have had a headache on & for about two days. Also think I may have a low grade fever. What can I do to rule in/out lime disease?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since you are experiencing pain at different sites we have to rule out conditions like typhus which is transmitted through ticks. You can go for Weil felix rest for confirmation. As of now you can take analgesics like ibuprofen or Diclofenac for pain. Drink plenty of water and take adequate bed rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
