What Causes Pain In The Hip Radiating To The Leg?

Have constant pain with sudden shooting pains running from my hip down side of my thigh around knee to my lower leg. Changes with position - standing to sitting with sitting worse. Pressure does not seem worsen pain. No unusual physical activity or injuries. Have had this for a couple of weeks and is getting worse. What could this possibly be?

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hello,

As the symptoms indicative of the lumbar Radiculopathy. An MRI is suggested.

For now, stabilize the lumbar spine with a lumbar brace. Take McKenzie maneuver position which you can check online. once the pain is centralised use hot water fermentation to reduce the pain and muscle spasm. Do core stability exercise, spinal muscle strengthening exercises, hip strengthening exercises and lower limb strengthening exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
