Hello.

Here are few of the common possibilties of the sharp pain you are experiencing in your genital areas.

1. Ureteric stones - give rise to a very sharp pain which initially starts near the lower abdomen, then later is felt in the genital area and inside of the upper thigh. Pain increases in severity on urination. Smaller stones pass through the urine while larger ones need to be removed.

2. UTI itself causes burning micturition. It may be more severe if you have any excoriations or scratches over the genitals. Plenty of fluids and medications will make the symptoms disappear.

3. STDs especially herpes, chancroid and lymphogranuloma venerum cause very painful ulcers or blisters in the genital area. Please get yourself checked for the same if you suspect it might be a possibility.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr Geeta
