What Causes Pain In The Eyes After Exposure To UV Rays?

Okay, so, I was about to go to bed, and I normally rub my eyes for a split second before attempting to sleep, but my left eye started hurting as soon as I touched it. At first, I thought it was just and eyelash, so I carefully smoothed all my eyelashes back to where they should be. It still hurt, so I blinked a bunch because I thought it could be dust. I teared up, the pain persisted. I got up, looked in a mirror, and saw nothing. I leaned back and pulled my eyelid up and then I saw a little brown splotch with a dark brown spot in the middle on the white of my eye. Now, I saw an eye doctor YESTERDAY for a yearly check up and they said nothing about a spot, although I have a freckle in my right eye, this splotch is in my left. I m very confused, and concerned. I did go tanning today and forgot my eye-covers; could it have been the UV rays? I kept my eyes closed.. But I m very concerned. Is this just a small blood vessel or is something happening?

Hi,

Extended exposure to the sun's UV rays has been linked to eye damage, including nearsightedness, myopia control, and the effects of blue light on the eye.
Please consult your ophthalmologist immediately.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
