Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I woke up the other night with pains in my chest. The traveled up the right of my face and into my jaw. I WAS IN A lot of destress with a pain of about 8 in a 10 range. ITS NOT THE FIRST TIME I V HAD THIS AFTER I HAD THIS HAPPENED BEFORE AND WAS TOLD IT IS PART OF MY COPD SO I HESITATE TO GO FOR TREATMENT. I feel like the people in the er think i m just not that sick. My husband has even question me and it scares me that I could die and then these people will realize i was for real
I understand your distress and I completely agree that chest pain is not something to be taken lightly. COPD does not cause that kind of chest pains, and the fact that it has happened again warrants a visit to a cardiologist. The doctors in the emergency departments are trained to look for acute conditions, and if you were not having chest pains at the exact time that you were there, they might not have picked anything up.
Not many types of pains wake you up from sleep, please do get your heart checked out for coronary blockages. That is the most important thing to do. If the heart is all clear, then we can consider other things like reflux and such, which is far less life threatening.
Hope this helps, and keep well.
Regards, Dr. Teh
