What Causes Pain In Shoulder After Removing Stitches From Plate Insertion Surgery?

I broke my left wrist on March 15th. I had surgery to insert a plate 8 days later. The stitches have been removed and I am in a cast until April 21st. My question is: should I still be having pain in my left shoulder? I mentioned this to the doctor when he examined and removed the stitches. He looked at the X-rays for the wrist and said the surgery was textbook. I suspect I may have a rotator cuff problem now due to the trauma of my fall on 3/15. I would go back to see him, but he is out of town this week.
