Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Right Side Of Navel Postpartum?
I am having pain in my right side, in a band from the waist towards my belly button. It is constant and moderate, seems to be worse when I am active, and feels better if I rest or rub it. I had a cesarean delivery five and a half weeks ago. I am breastfeeding. I am taking labetalol for blood pressure and had been taking ibuprofen for headaches and pain during nursing, but stopped that when the side pain started. I am having a small amount of vaginal bleeding (after having stopped). What could it be and what should I do?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Irregular bleeding during breast feeding is normal. The pain in transverse belt like area on one side of belly with swelling, indicates infection in Cesarean stitches (specially with transverse incision in lower abdomen. For this you need to consult your operating doctor for prescribing antibiotic, anti-inflammatory drug after examining you.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
