What Causes Pain In Lower Back Post Laparoscopic Surgery For Endometriosis?

Hi I had a laparoscopy to remove endometriosis on 9 April but on 16 April I started experiencing severe pain in my right pelvic area and went back to the gynaecologist who said I had an infection in my uterus and prescribed an antibiotic which did not relieve the pain. On 21 April the gynaecologist called me to say the swab results came in and that I should rather take metrogyl 400 3 times a day for 7 days which should make me feel a lot better. Tomorrow will be the 7th day and I still feel tenderness in my right side and lower back and get pain when I walk or do too much. Does this mean the infection has not cleared?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible that the infection has not completely cleared and you may need further treatment. It is important to follow up with your gynecologist to evaluate your symptoms and determine if additional testing or treatment is needed. In some cases, additional imaging such as an ultrasound or MRI may be necessary to evaluate the extent of the infection or identify other potential causes of your symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
