What Causes Pain In Left Palm Despite Taking Cortisone Shot?

Hello, I have been having numbness and tingling in my hands. Primarily my right. For several weeks. Night times is the worst. I wake up with them asleep and painful. Last year I had a trigger finger injected with cortisone. It helped almost for a year. Now pain is back in that had. Pain in left is also at the base of palm by wrist. Any ideas?

This numbness and tingling is due to neuropathy , which is abnormal function of the nerves.

There are different possible causes of neuropathy but one of the most common causes as it relates to the hands would be carpal tunnel syndrome.
This tends to cause worse symptoms at night.

In carpal tunnel syndrome there is compression or injury of the nerves at the level of the wrist.

Your doctor can assess you to determine if this is the case and initiate treatment and referral if needed.
Treatment may include the use of a brace , referral would be to an orthopedic doctor.

Surgery may be needed in some cases.
