What Causes Pain In Knees Upon Walking?

I was walking normal and a pop happened at the back of my knee cap and it felt like a muscle pull and it was a week ago. It still hurts when I walk, but not when I m resting. It is not always the same pain level, sometimes it is light and sometimes it s is very painful. I don t think I pulled a muscle. It feels like a cramp that doesn t go away.

Hello,

It most likely a muscle strain or tendon strain. In such case you need rest warm compressors and over the counter pain killers as per needed. Also, you can wear knee support when active and remove at night. This can take 2-3 weeks to go away so if persist better to consult a doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Hajer Al Mazrouii, General & Family Physician
