What Causes Pain In Hand Few Days After Hand Injury?

On Jan 11, I went bicycling and I fell and landed on my hands, hard. I felt immediate heat on my hands and when I got home, I iced my wrists and bandaged them. I never went to see a Dr. It began to feel better but now 3 weeks later, I have pain when picking up my coffee cup, turning door knobs and pushing sliding glass doors. Thank you for any info...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi I am Dr.Shreyash R. Mehta, MD Community Medicine

I hope my answer will solve your query

As you told you fell from a bicycle and landed on your hands. The fall must have caused a swelling and might have subsided after you applied ice on it.

You should see a doctor immediately and rule out a fracture to one of your small bone of wrist (scaphoid). The pain and symptoms you describe appear a bit late.

Get a radiograph done(i.e. X-ray) in glass holding position. Minimize movement of your wrist.
