What Causes Pain In Forearm After Lifting A Heavy Object?

At work last night I was lifting a heavy object and something in my forearm popped and a few minutes later my fingers felt like they were tingling and a tiny bit numb. There not numb or anything today but when I move my forearm to much it hurts. What do you think it could be? Do I need to be concerned?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to Health Care Magic Team.

Understanding your concern.

As you describe your condition in your query the forearm pain you are experiencing due to lifting of heavy weight can be due to various reason like muscle strain ,tendinitis and tennis elbow . But there is nothing to worry.

An forearm pain can be treated with some home remedies easily .Icing of your fore arm , some stretching exercises and physical therapy will really be helpful . you should immobilization your arm for few days with the help of elbow strap .If the pain is unbearable then you should take painkillers like ibuprofen or asprine which will also reduce inflammation .

I would suggest you not to use your arm for any physical work until it will get to normal.Once it will be normal its very important to stretch it before doing any physical work to prevent such kind of incident .

If the condition persists for more then a week consult orthopedic surgeon .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get well soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
