I have a pain on the left hand side of my little finger nail on my right hand.

I can put quite a lot of pressure on the top, the tip and the right hand side of the nail, however if I just touch the left side of the nail it is very painfull. It is also painfull in the cold weather and it is the first place the freeze in the winter months.The nail looks normal and there is no discolouration. What do you think might be the problem?
