What Causes Pain In Chest While Deep Breathing And Coughing?

Hi there! Last night I landed very hard on my head and back. Luckily I was wearing a bike helmet. My back hurts and my neck hurts as well. But the next day my centre of my chest hurts a lot when i breath deeply or cough. What could be the issue and should I seek medical attention?

Thanks for your question on HCM.
You are having blunt chest trauma due to accident.
So we need to rule out these things first as blunt chest trauma can cause all these.
1. Rib fracture
2. Pneumothorax
3. Pulmonary contusions
4. Muscular injury etc.
So chest x ray is needed to rule out all these.
If chest x ray is normal than you mostly have muscular injury only.
So try to follow these steps for better symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid heavy weight lifting and strenuous exercise.
2. Avoid bad postures in sleep.
3. Take good painkiller and muscle relaxant.
4. Apply warm water pad on affected site.
