Hello. Three years ago I had spinal surgery for spinal stenosis. I also hav3 had Parkinson s for the past 23 years because of th3 medication side effects I have had seven falls in the PST year. I have developed a pain from my right hip down to my knee. Severe incapacitated pain. When after months I sa an NHS orthopaedic surgeon the pain miraculously disappeared. The same day it came back with a vengeance. Am I imagine it
There are 2 main components of pain:
- real structural related to morphological and physiological function
- psychological (the way we perceive pain and its intensity)
When the real morphological changes are present, pain will feel the same in the presence of orthopedic specialist.
However, when the pain is manageable, then, you experience a bit of relief while meeting the specialist. This has to do with the psychological part. So, I do not think you are imagining it but the way you perceive pain differs in both situations.
Discuss with a specialist if there is any damage and how to manage it in the future.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
