What Causes Pain During Urination After Hip Replacement?
I had a hip replacement on December 11 (8 days ago) In the hospital I was catherized four (4) times due to the inability to urnitate. Presently I am able to urnitate durning the day when I am active but when I go to bed I feel pressure to urnitate but attempts to empty my bladder.are minimal and painful. My urnine sample shows no sign of an infection.
Inability of proper urination is common after a major surgery like hip replacement. This due to a number of contributing factors including medications, anesthetics, urinary retention, catheterization, subsequent urinary tract infection, and constipation. Few investigations like ultrasound examination, uroflometry, complete urine examination with proper physical examination are needed to identify specific cause.
