What Causes Pain Below Sternum And In Pelvic Area?
I m having really bad labor like pains starting from right below my sternum and down to my pelvis. I am not pregnant. I have crohns colitis and the pain started like small cramps every 20 mins and have progressed to a high 10 on the pain scale and are coming in waves. I was stuck in my bathroom for an hour then moved to the couch once I got the chance and now it is becoming worse. I don t know what it could be. Can you help?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Crohn's disease is an inflammatory disorder of intestines. It needs anti-inflammatory drugs or steroids to reduce the inflammation for pain relief. A gastroenterologist's consultation with specific drug regimen and suitable dosage is desired. In extreme pain, you should go to ER for pain control followed by expert advise regarding medication, dietary advice and life style specifications for long term management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
