What Causes Pain Behind The Left Thigh?

I have ongoing pain in the back of my left thigh, deep inside, which is relieved by sleeping with a heating pad. I also have pain in my left hip joint. I don t know if the two are related. I read the symptoms of thrombosis and I don t think that s it. The pain in my thigh feel close to the bone. Until recently I did a lot of walking about three to five miles a day. But if I walk two three miles in last couple of months it seems to make it worse. It s worse at night. Mild exercise seems to help. What do you think? Worth a Dr. Appointment?

Hello, Thanks for the query.
The pain may be due over stretching of deepre muscle at the upper part of the back of the thigh. Muscles like piriformis, which is a deeper muscle can give rise to a deeper pain. So it is better you seek the advise of an orthopedician or a sports medicine specialist. That should help. There are special exercises which can help in relieving such pain. Thanks
