What Causes Pain At Incision Site?

I just had a lump removed from my arm. I have stitches. After the local wore off last night I was in alot of pain. My incission was throbbing and stinging all night. I m still in alot of pain. I never had stitches before. Should they be this painfull? He told me to keep the bandage on for 2 days so I have no idea what it looks like. He also said that I shouldn t have much discomfort but I do. And I do have a high tolerence for pain.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain pain after a surgical procedure is not an abnormal finding and it commonly occurs for about a week or more which gradually subsides when the healing proceeds..
The pain needs to be controlled with painkillers during the initial post surgical period and it does not look like you are taking any medication for pain..
You should take a short course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin or Augmentin for preventing infection..
Take painkiller like Ibuprofen for moderate pain and in case if pain is severe Tramadol can be taken..
You can also get an injectable painkiller like Voveran injection [ diclofenac] for relief from pain faster..
Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
