What Causes Pain And Tenderness On The Arch Of Foot?

My arch started to hurt after wearing some shoes I do not usually wear. It has now been about 10 days since the problem started. The pain is not as severe as it was but I still feel discomfort. When I walk barefoot it feels like there is a lump on my arch and it is sore. When I rub the bad arch it feels like the other arch. I cannot detect a lump with my hand. I also cannot detect any swelling. The arch is tender to the touch and has prevented me from walking any distance. When I put on shoes the pain stops for a time and then resumes. What could the problem be? Do I need to get an x ray?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

This is because of ill-fitted shoes, change your footwear, give hot fomentation, apply Diclofenac gel, take anti-inflammatory if required, no need of X-ray.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jaideep Gaver, Orthopedic Surgeon
