What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Little Finger?

Hi, I am in week five of healing avulsion fracture of my pinky. I still have slight pain when touched and swelling. I was told to leave it splinted for 6 weeks. I am worried about whether or not I can take the splint off at the sixe week mark or not? Are there any signs I should be looking for that it is/not healed?

Hello,

I have gone through your query. If the swelling is mild then no need to worry. If pain and swelling is more than a repeat x-ray should be taken and review with your orthopedician. In case of fracture not getting consolidated will need K wire or internal fixation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad BN
