What Causes Pain And Swelling In Palm Post Insertion Of IV?

Hi. Yesterday I got an iv on my hand but doctor couldn t find my vein and pushed needle a little deep. It hurt but then told her use left hand and that worked. However now a day after I notice my right hand palm swelling up and hurts a little. I m wondering if this is cause for concern and if I should go immediately to doctors. I applied cold water and swelling went down little but still there and hurts a bit when I m trying to keep my palm open. Thanks

You should see your doctor to check for signs of cellulitis. Red, hot and swelled up hand could be because of cellulitis or clot. Ointment Thrombophobe should help you if it is clot. But for cellulitis you will have to take antibiotics.
