What Causes Pain And Swelling Around A Surgical Scar?

Hello Doctor, Just wanted to update you that although i can feel some improvement in swelling/hardness, but it is the pain/soreness that is troubling me a lot. Every time i am in pain, the only difference is the intensity of pain. I am thinking of waiting till July when my 14 months of surgery will be over and 12 months of scar formation. Can you please throw some light if the things don t improve till July, will there be any options of treatment available for me because as per all the doctors i have met they refuse to acknowledge my complaints. So, i am curious if my problem persists, can it be cured or not. Thanks & Regards

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an inflammation and infection of the surgical wound. I would recommend using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day.

Prescribed antibiotics may be needed. You should consult your surgeon about this treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
