What Causes Pain And Stiffness In The Hips, Hands And Wrists?

20 plus years ago I was diagnosed with a severe allergy to Quinidex ? that I was taking for MVP. symptoms were severe and progressive stiffness in my joints starting in my hands and wrists then progressing to my entire body. After 4 months a Rhumatologist took me off the drug and within a week I was free of pain. I Lately have been having problems sleeping due to hip pain and my neighbor gave me a Lidocaine 5% patch last night. Today I started experiencing the same really painful stiffness in my hands and wrists and neck. Could this be an allergy to Lidocaine??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

* The sensitivity is evidenced by improvement after stoppage of Quinidex.
* The Lidocaine patch does not give stiffness in hands, wrists and neck where you can consider unresponsiveness of the patch or body symptoms where the effect of the patch is ware off.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
