What Causes Pain And Slight Indentation On Right Side Of Ribs?

It seems that one of my ribs is slightly indented on my right side. The weirdest thing is that I had a physical today and my doctor pressed on the area but didn t mention it. I didn t say anything to him and only realized that it looked indented a little later in the day. It definitely hurts when I press on it, or when I stretch a little bit from side to side. There have been no specific incidents that I can think of that would have caused any damage. My overall back feels like I should go to a chiropractor as well if that might have anything to do with it.

Hi,

There could be several possible causes of pain and slight indentation on the right side of your ribs. One possibility is a rib injury, such as a bruise or a fracture. It's possible that the injury occurred without you realizing it, or that it was a minor injury that has since healed. Another possibility is a musculoskeletal issue, such as a strained muscle or a problem with your spine, which may be contributing to the pain and indentation.

It's important to note that while your doctor did not mention the indentation during your physical, they may have simply not noticed it or not considered it to be a significant issue. If the pain persists or becomes more severe, you should consider making an appointment to follow up with your doctor or a specialist such as a chiropractor or a physical therapist.

In the meantime, you can try some self-care measures such as taking over-the-counter pain medication, applying ice or heat to the affected area and avoiding activities that worsen the pain. It's also a good idea to maintain good posture and practice gentle stretches to help alleviate any underlying musculoskeletal issues.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
