What Causes Pain And Popping Of Ears?

I was sitting in my computer chair doing work, when all of a sudden my right ear popped. There was no loud noise or change in pressure; it sounded like air was leaking out of my ear, almost like the same sound a balloon lets air out. I tried yawning, like in an airplane, and that only very temporarily relieves it. It is ringing, and actually starting to feel painful now. I don t feel any vertigo, although I do feel like I am out of it, although I felt that way the last couple days because I have been sick. But I have no idea what is wrong with my ear or what to do. Please help

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Did you suffer from cold before i.e. when you fell sick? You may be suffering from acute infection in ear. I think it would be better if you can have your ears examined. If at all you can't, just keep a dry cotton plug at the ear opening.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Himanshu Dhanak, Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist
