What Causes Pain And Numbness In The Arms?

My wife is having a lot of pain and numbness shooting down her arm due to pinched nerves in her neck caused by a bulging disk. We are waiting for the delivery of a traction device that was prescribed from her back doctor following her MRI. This has been ongoing for a couple weeks and just as it was starting to get better it seems to have switched sides and is excruciating the last two days. As of today she started the second dospak of steroids due to the flareup. She has taken Percocet and a soma to try and alleviate the pain which is not working and her anxiety is off the charts, most likely increased from the steroid. Any suggestions on what we should do to fight the pain which has her in a very bad spot right now?

Hi,

It sounds like you are already doing all the things I would recommend; you might try calling your doctor to see if you can increase the dose of Percocet.

Otherwise, the only other thing I could think of if the pain is unbearable is to go to the ER and see if they can treat it with IV pain meds, to at least get it under control.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is much else that can be done. At some point, your back doctor might consider an epidural injection, but that obviously isn't going to help her right now.

Sorry, I couldn't be of more help, I hope the pain lets up and she can get some relief soon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
