What Causes Pain And Green/red Discharge From Ear?
I had been diagnosed 7 days ago with otitis media and spontaneous typanic rupture. I was prescribed Augmentin 2xdaily. My ear drainage and pain are persisting. The drainage is neon green, occasionally with faint blood tinge. I have tinnitus and mild hearing loss. I am taking sudafed, the new kind, and I take Allegra daily. I have be3n taking 600mg of buprofen three x day and I have 3 more days of ATBs. I feel like I should be getting better. Is this normal? Should I be concerned about getting an inner ear infection? Im worried about permanent hearing loss also.
Hello dear, After going through your history, I believe you have some genuine concern and I will try to help you out of this situation.
From the history you gave ( Especially, the green discharge and other complaints), I doubt you have pseudomonal infection in the ear, which is the most notorious bacteria for ear.
Please get a culture sensitivity of the discharge of the secretion from the ear and take medication as per the report. But this all should be done with consultation of a ENT specialist.
I hope I could solve your query. Please do not hesitate to clarify more doubts for the same situation.
Thank you for the way you are in my life. Dr Ipsit Panda
