What Causes Pain And Bloating In The Lower Abdomen?

I have been persistently bloated for three months now. I originally suspected it was a gluten or lactose intolerance however after restricting both from my diet the bloating has persisted. I had been experiencing pains in my lower abdominal area which I attributed to period pain however it had been persisting throughout the entire month. I have today experienced constipation and what seems to be blood surrounding the stool which was uncharacteristically dark as well as bloating and lower abdominal pain today. Unsure wether I need to visit my G.P, go to hospital or wether it is an issue that will resolve itself.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to gastritis secondary to acid reflux.

As a first line management, you can take antacids like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
