What Causes Pain And Bloating In The Abdomen After Taking Simethicone?

i am having a very bad reaction to simethicone. I have had 3 experiences with extreme and painful bloating after taking the medication, much worse than the initial gas. I can find no info on the web as to how to counter the effects; however, i did find out that if one has thyroid problems/thyroid meds(both of which I do), one should not take it. There is no info on the packaging or inside. My MD suggested I take it for my gas problems. Do I just have to wait it out? Thank you for our help

Hi,

As per your query about pain and bloating after taking Simethicone because Simethicone mainly used for colicky pain and flatulence by reducing gastric motility. For this it can cause pain and flatulence as a side effect. You need not to worry and stop taking it, symptoms will subside after some time. If more discomfort is present you can take any laxative for getting relief. Consult your physician if there is any severe pain.
