What Causes Outbreak Of Red Sores On The Chin And Around The Mouth?

I keep getting a breakout on my chin & around my mouth that I was told was impetigo. Bactroban cream and oral Bactrim didn't work. I used campho phenique which cleared it up for awhile but then I'd get a new bump now & then that would go away. I now have a full fledged breakout again. The first time I broke out it was isolated to,the right side of my face. Now it's on both sides. My doctor told me I am pre menopausal. Is it possible this is caused from a hormonal imbalance? The

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that breakout of red sores around the mouth and chin is pointing towards a skin condition known as Perioral Dermatitis..
It can be caused due to disturbances in microbial flora over the skin, bacterial infection,nasal and topical steroids, flouridated toothpastes, harsh chemical cosmetics, poor facial hygiene, hormonal imbalances etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can do a thorough clinical evaluation and advise you to apply topically ointments containing Doxycycline, Metronidazole..
You can also be advised oral intake of erythromycin..
Ointments containing Azaelic acid,Pimecrolimus etc can help..
Avoid any skin cosmetic or steroid ointments..
Avoid excess sun exposure, use gel based sunscreen lotion..
