What Causes Orange Coloured Urination After Taking Xarelto?

I was put on Xarelto as a precautionary measure. I had an ablation to correct AFib 2 years ago and I ve been in sinus rhythm ever since, but my VA doctor still recommended I go on Xarelto to reduce chance of stroke. First day I took one 20mg tab, my urine was reddish/orange ( a few times VERY bright) for the rest of the day. No pain, just very disturbing colored piss and it went away the next day. Haven t taken another one yet. Now they want me to do all kinds of tests. I think it was the drug. Hasn t happened since.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the orange color urine you had maybe caused because of blood in the urine. It can be a side effect of using Xarelto. You can talk to your cardiologist about using it or not or possibly reducing the dosage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
