Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have symptoms of numbness on one side of face is because of facial nerve paralysis , The condition is known as bell's palsy . Bell's palsy can occur due to may reasons like stress or viral infection which was dormant and reactivated due to certain trigger.

In this condition facial muscle of one side of face get paralyzed and muscle of other side pull them towards their side .

The symptoms go away without any treatment in few days . But medicine can be given to correct the symptoms .

I would suggest you to ;-

- Start exercise of facial muscles .

- Start physical therapy of muscles .

Consult oral surgeon or neurosurgeon for proper evaluation of the condition and to rule out cause like acoustic neuroma or nerve trauma.

Doctor may order blood test , X-ray or CT scan. He/she may artificial tears (methyl cellulose) , prednison, or anti viral medicine like acyclovir.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
