What Causes Numbness In Upper Lip With Dry Darkened Skin Patch?

Hello, im a 19 year old female from Australia. My upper lip began to have numb feeling after after I noticed a patch growing. it had increased in size in a matter of days. My coldsore had just finished healing and maybe be wondering if its just carried onto my lips? however it hasn t formed into a coldsore and its just a dry patch of slightly darkened skin. It started to begin on the bottom of my lip as well. Im quite concerned because it has continued to appear for two weeks and hasn t showed a slightest change in improvement?

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CONCERN.

Thanks for your query. The symptoms you describe in your query are pointing towards a condition known as chapped lips .There can be many reasons for chapped lips like frequent licking ,picking ,extreme dry weather and excessive sun exposure.

I would suggest you to spot picking or licking of lips,use lip moisturizer with SPF 15 to prevent from sun exposure,take supplement containing vitamin B6 which will be extremely helpful in this condition,try to avoid dry environment and apply teritenoin ointment at night.Keep you body hydrated.

If condition persists for more the 10 days consult dermatologist for proper examination to rule out other condition like any inflammatory disease .
