What Causes Numbness In The Left Foot Post Lumbar Discectomy?

I m having L5 dissecdemy this Friday and all the pain killers, shots and steroid packs has lessen the pain. But my left foot continues to be numb and surgeon is a little optimistic numbness will go away! Could it be from nerve damage or something else. Is it repairable or will another surgery be needed? The MRI shows L5 definitely has ruptured disk.

Hello,

How long have you been with this symptom? I think it comes from the ruptured disc of L5. It can compress the nerve that goes through your leg. As your doctor says that he is optimistic, I think that he has experience in his job and would know it better.

Wish you good health and a successfully intervention.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Emilda Belortaja
