What Causes Numbness In The Face And Arms While On Topiramate And Lamotrigine?

I am taking two medications: Toprimate 200mg - 2 per day. Lamotrigine 100mg - 3 tabs am. 4 tabs pm. I am having subtle numbness down the right side of my body. It is in my face, my arm, my back, and my leg. I am wondering if it is from the medication.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

While it is possible to have these effect on the drugs, but If the symptoms are only on one side, it needs to be properly evaluated as unilateral symptoms are unlikely to be caused by drugs.

I would suggest you should go to your doctor for a proper neurological examination of your arms and legs to rule out any brain lesion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
