What Causes Numbness In Jaw And Inner Cheeks?

Probably a dumb question but, a few days ago I've experienced pain that has been consistent it's along the lines of my back inner cheek and jaw bone, it's sort of starting to spread pain wise as it's sort of hard to swallow now. The weird part is it's only on one side, I was thinking wisdom teeth coming in maybe? But I wanted to ask just to be sure and any solutions I could do to minimize pain before I see a dentist / doctor thanks for your time

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems to be very much related to wisdom tooth only as there must be inflammation in the gum flap over the wisdom tooth known as PERICORONITIS which occurs due to infection between the gum flap and the tooth or due to biting of the gum flap by the opposing jaw tooth leading to inflammation and pain and the pain can radiate to the entire cheek ,jaw, throat , eye and ear as well as side of head..
It can also cause difficulty in swallowing due to pain..
You should consult a dentist and get evaluated and along with it get an IOPAR [X RAY] done to rule out the status of the wisdom tooth that whether it will erupt itself or is impacted..
In case if the tooth will erupt completely in that case first a course of antibiotics like Augmentin 65 mg thrice a day, Ibuprofen 400mg thrice a day and Pantoprazole 40 mg once a day empty stomach in morning has to be taken, all for 5 days..
Do warm saline gargles and maintain a good oral hygiene..
In case if the swelling is recurring then you should get Operculectomy that is the removal of the gum flap surgically has to be done..

In case if the tooth is impacted Extraction is the treatment of choice..

As of now you can take the above described medicine for 5 days [only if not allergic]..
Take a soft and bland diet for ease in swallowing..

Hope this information helps..
