What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Left Side Of The Body?

My husband has had sciatic nerve pain since January, he also recently had an aortic valve replaced. his heart is doing fine and the hip and leg pain are better, but just the last few days he has had intermittent numbness and tingling on his left side(same as the sciatic pain) from his shoulder to his fingers and down the side and hip to his foot. The L5 is bulged ,but that doesn t explain the shoulder and side numbness???

knowing his age is important. as we get older our bones becomes osteoporotic and weak. vertebral disc prolapse can also occur which can impinge on nerves. as L5 causes sciatic nerve pain. cervical disc prolapse can cause the type of symptoms you have described. getting a MRI of cervicothoracic region will help
