What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Hands?
Hi. Early last month I had surgery to remove what I was told by a specialist was a non cancerous growth on my lower right parathyroid gland. The surgery was successful in that the surgeon was able to locate and remove it and the next day a blood test showed that my calcium level was an acceptable level so I was released to go home. After surgery I was asked several times if I was experiencing tingling in my fingers/hands and I was asked once again before discharge. I hadn t at any time then; but over the last two weeks I have experienced tingling and numbness in my right hand and arm at various times each day and am concerned about this. I have a follow up session with the surgeon at the end of this month but I wonder whether I should wait until then and consult with a doctor now. Thank you Sorry please delete this query
A low calcium levels can cause symptoms but don't worry there I am sure they will check the levels again once you go for follow up and you should be fine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harshita
