What Causes Noticeable Veins On Forehead, Runny Nose And Fever?

my 2 year old daughter has been sick for a few days now with something that is going around heavily in our area. She has been coughing, has a runny nose, fever that comes and goes, and just a few minutes ago she vomited. We have been alternating tylenol and ibuprofen and she is still running a slight fever. I also just noticed that the veins on her forehead are more noticible than they have ever been. Is there any cause for concern at this moment? She still seems happy but you can tell she doesn t feel well.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The symptoms of runny nose, fever and coughing suggests an upper respiratory tract infection.
Tylenol and ibuprofen will help to relieve the fever.
In addition, anti-histaminics are required to control the upper respiratory tract symptoms of running nose.
Saline gargles will help to control the cough.
If cough is associated with sore throat, antibiotics will be required.
Prominent veins on the forehead can be due to increasing weakness.
Loss of facial fat can lead to prominence of facial veins.
Consult your pediatrician for clinical assessment and thus management.

Thanks and take care
