General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Nose bleed in children is generally caused due to fragile mucosal blood vessel inside nose in an area called 'Little's area'.
It is called 'epistaxis'. It is usually caused due to nose picking or nasal congestion due to infection.
Whenever bleeding happens, don't have to panic much. Just ask her to pinch her nose tightly for about 5 minutes, bend forward and breath through the mouth.
If it is happening too frequently, the bleeding vessels needs to be identified and cauterised by means of chemical or electro cautry.
Kindly seek opinion from ENT Surgeon in this regard for proper management.
Hope the information provided would be useful. All the best.
