What Causes Nipple Discoloration?

My areolas color has faded to almost match the skin around it. My doctor says it s nothing to worry about it, but I don t like the way it looks. It s happened gradually over the past decade (I m 53) after a hysterectomy/oophorectomy so I assume it s hormonal. I liked the pinkish-brown color I had before. Is there any way to change it now? Don t really like the idea of tattooing...

Yes, Change in the colour of areolas is related to hormonal milieu of the body..
Just to enhance the colour with medications isnot a good idea because any hormonal preparation will influence your internal organs..
Camouflaging (temporary or permanent) is the best solution in your case.
