What Causes Nausea While On Sprintec Birth Control Pill?

Sprintec birth control is giving me nausea in the mornings. I ve been on it for a year now, and this has been happening for about a year now. And when I drink (not excessively, just a couple of drinks), I get worse nausea and throw up. Sometimes I ll be sick for long hours. Do all birth controls cause nausea?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Different birth control pills have different proportions of estrogens and progestins. Also, they have different types of estrogens and progestins.

I advise that you go back to your doctor and discuss this as a different formulation (different ratio and amount of these hormones, and possibly different progestin) may resolve this problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
