What Causes Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea And Stomach Ache?

Hi, My niece has been having nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain for at least a week. We brought her to a doctor the other day, who thinks its from an ulcer, and gave her an anti-acid to use until the ulcer heals. However, I was curious about the diarrhea, because I hadn t known ulcers to cause diarrhea. I was wondering if it could be from a bacteria or if ulcers really can cause diarrhea? or if you have any other input? Thank you!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to my opinion, it could be a gastroenteritis infective condition. Ulcer might be associated with it.

It can be viral gastroenteritis which can resolve with time. My advice are :

- Maintain hydration with lots of water
- Avoid excess spicy foods
- Zinc sulfate powder can be prescribed with water

Now your diarrhea will resolve.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
