What Causes Nausea, Vomiting And Excessive Sweating After Having Restaurant Food?

I was awaken at 3AM Sunday morning with nausea and had to dash to the bathroom and vomit. At this time I vomited about 4 times, all the while I had sweat pouring down my face. This happened almost hourly- again at 4am, and 5am. When I was able to rest, the pillow was soaked with sweat. I had no diarrhea or abdominal cramping though I did have more bowel movements on Sunday than I typically do. I was feeling poorly the rest of the day and am very tired today. Thermometer showed almost no fever (98.8). I am female 55 yrs of age, 5 7 and weigh 210. I had eaten the same thing at dinner that others ate and they had no problems. At appx 2pm Saturday I had a fast food burger from McDonald s. This was the only thing that I ate that was different then others I was with. Could this have been food poisoning?? Would it come on that fast and also go away that fast?? The only other physical trouble I noticed during this event was lower back pain across entire low back, but I had traveled in a car 5 hours that day and was sleeping in a different bed. Other then VERY sore abdominal muscles from the vomiting I don t seem to have any lasting trouble from this occurrence. Also I was able to keep food and liquids down after around 9am Sunday, and had no nausea. Thank you.

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

It could be related to food poisoning which is nothing but acute gastroenteritis due to toxins of contaminated food (what you have ate from MacDonald) from infections like bacteria, virus, parasite etc.

Symptoms usually starts after 12 to 24 hours of eating like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, loose motions, weakness, fatigue, headache, abdominal cramps due to water and electrolyte imbalance.

As per your symptoms, you seem to be having this gastroenteritis and might require antibiotics (ofloxacin with ornidazole), antispasmodics, antiemetics, probiotics and other supportive treatment as per your symptoms.

So,Consult physician for proper treatment and take light food with plenty of water.

Regards,
