What Causes Nausea, Vomiting And Blood In Stool?

I d appreciate your opinion. I am 87 years of age and in good health, well up until this. Day before yesterday I was fine until right after lunch when I became nauseated. I had eaten a sandwich using some meat we had had in the box for several days. It didn t taste bad or smell bad so I had my sandwich. After lunch when I vomited that, of course, was in the vomit. Then I felt like I had go to the bathroom for a bowel movement. What came out was very little fecal matter but a lot of blood. Later if I sneezed or coughed of course I soiled my pad. Yesterday I had some very mild cramping but nothing bad. The blood continued to appear tho not as much all through the day yesterday. I did not eat anything yesterday but drank lots of water and some 7-up. No fever and no blood today. Do I assume it was the meat, or a burst hemorrhoid? I feel fine.

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this to confirm the diagnosis-

1)Do a clinical examination by your treating Doctor soon.

2)Do few investigations like this [Complete blood count with differential, Stool test for occult blood, Colonoscopy with biopsy and a CT scan]

3)Treatment depends upon exact pathological findings of [colon] only

Do follow few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Try to limit dairy products and if taken then take an enzyme product such as Lactaid.

2)Try low-fat foods. Try avoiding butter, margarine, cream sauces and fried foods.

3)Limit fiber, if it's a problem food. If you have inflammatory bowel disease, high-fiber foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains, may make your symptoms worse. If raw fruits and vegetables bother you, try steaming, baking or stewing them.

4)Avoid other problem foods. Spicy foods, alcohol, and caffeine etc

5)Eat small meals. You may find you feel better eating five or six small meals a day rather than two or three larger ones.

6)Try to drink plenty of fluids daily. Water is best. Alcohol and beverages that contain caffeine stimulate your intestines and can make diarrhea worse, while carbonated drinks frequently produce gas.

7)Do take one multivitamin regularly at bed time.

8)Try to quit smoking if you have these habits.

9)Try to manage stress and for it you can do deep breathing exercises and meditations.

Hope that helps
