What Causes Nausea And Swelling In The Ankles?

I am currently taking 12.5 mg of Benicar for HBP and Metformin 500mg once a day (for 1 1/2 months) for being in the pre-diabetic stage. The past two weeks, both of my ankles have been swelling up, so I sleep with them propped up. I have also been feeling nauseated pretty much daily. I stopped taking the Metformin, for a week now, thinking that was it, but I am still feeling nauseated and the ankles still swell. Should I stop both medications and ask for something else??? Please advise.
